If these answers are yes, please read on as we are looking for a Football Analytics Writer that is able to assist our marketing team and media clients in bringing SciSports’ database insights and data products to life, especially in written and visual storytelling about transfers, matches, players and teams.

SciSports is growing its media business and looking to sign up added value to play a pivotal role in SciSports’ collaboration with the #1 transfers source in the football world - www.footballtransfers.com.

We are looking for applicants that speak the football language and have the urge to discover hidden patterns and content hooks derived from football analytics. Experience in working with data as supportive evidence for editorial work in football media is essential.

In this job you will focus primarily on writing and supporting the editorial needs across SciSports and FootballTransfers. As the go-to person for any data-related question you’re the analytics evangelist in a powerful team that delivers to millions of readers every month.

Tasks

As a Football Analytics Writer, your primary accountabilities & responsibilities include:

  • Writing extensive scouting reports, long-form content and tactical masterpieces, all drenched with insights coming from data
  • Translating insights derived from SciSports’ application and database to content best-practices for yourself and others
  • Supporting the FootballTransfers editorial team with ad-hoc multimedia requests related to football analytics
  • Assisting in the production of social-ready media content to be shared across multiple platforms
  • Liaising directly with SciSports and FootballTransfers teams to uncover talents and interesting editorial content
  • Becoming an industry thought leader around data-driven transfer values and knowing how to present and promote them to internal and external stakeholders
  • Working on recurring data-backed content themes in newsletters, reports and posts

Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Experienced in working with football data, is able to provide a personal portfolio of work from the past
  • You know how to communicate effectively with football fans and you are capable of translating (tactical) questions and demands into solutions and insights via content


Candidate Profile

  • English language proficiency
  • Strong communicator
  • Die-hard football fan, passionate about tactics, player analysis and talent identification
  • Content expert: Excellent analytical- and writing skills
  • Flexible in working hours: Weekend and evening work can be part of the job
  • Based in the Netherlands and Dutch language proficiency is a plus
  • Experience in data visualisation, data analysis and/or coding is a plus
